The fall season is a great time to stain or re stain your deck. Lower humidity, drier air and cooler nights not only make it more enjoyable for those of us actually doing the physical labor but the stain is going to dry faster which may actually allow you to stain in the morning and entertain on your newly re stained deck that same evening. You may remember when we introduced you to our tiny bungalow before. Well, this is the back of the tiny bungalow in it’s original state when we purchased it as a rental property. Needless to say, you can see by looking that this old deck wasn’t safe enough to enjoy and it was very uninviting. In an upcoming post on our blog, you will see where Dean demolished this old deck and built a new one from scratch. That was two years ago when we first stained the new deck. We needed to freshen up the look so we scheduled time to re stain the deck. We have several upcoming diy projects we are currently working on so we knew we needed to finish this project fast and as easily as possible. We were introduced to products that made our life so much easier when it came to diy home improvement projects. With this Deck Pro Gap Wheel and StainStick we were able to eliminate hand brush painting between the cracks of the boards. We also eliminated the going back and forth to the can or paint tray while dripping paint on the deck. The gap wheel product is designed to get the stain in between the boards. The first time we stained this deck two years ago, we were using a paint roller but mostly painted it all by hand with a regular paint brush. You can imagine how much time we saved this timeIn one hour we had completely given this small deck two coats of stain. Clean up was a breeze and before long the deck was completely dry.Our sweet young renters have decorated this area with vintage patio furniture and outdoor string lights to provide a comfortable and relaxed space for their bible studies. We used a regular deck stain in Natural. This project needed to be be done quickly without compromising quality and we felt it only could have been finished so fast and easy with the products that we used.Typically, we would recommend spraying the deck with a good deck cleaner then brushing with a stiff broom and rinsing off with a hose. However, with our time constraints this time, we were very pleased with sweeping all the leaves and acorns of first then staining over the previously stained wood. There were some pretty heavy duty plant ring stains that covered nicely with two coats of stain. Please feel free to head over to our blog for more on this project and to find more diy home improvement projects, gardening, crafts and lifestyle articles.Original article and pictures take http://www.hometalk.com/10844361/how-to-stain-your-deck-in-less-than-an-hour site
