Tin Man Candle Holder

This is part of a series that I did, making a centerpiece from candles for Halloween. This one is my favorite one of the series. Happy Creating everyone!

The Tin Man Candle Holder was made mostly from Dollar Tree items & is my favorite so far. It's easy to make and makes a very unique addition to your Halloween Decor.

You will need a Dollar Tree Glass Candle Bowl, some Krylon Looking Glass spray paint & a 50/50 mix of white vinegar & water.

You'll also need some silver metallic spray paint & a funnel that will fit on the top of the candle bowl. Give the funnel 2 coats of paint, let dry & set aside.

Lightly spray the inside of the bowl with the vinegar/water mix.

Then spray the Looking Glass paint over the vinegar/water mix on the inside.

Swirl the excess paint to give it a better coverage.

Turn it upside down on some paper towels to drain. When the paint has slightly dried, use a paper towel to dab out the vinegar/water. (the paint won't stick to the vinegar/water mixture, which gives it that mercury glass look & lets the candle light show through) Add more coats of the Looking glass paint until you get the coverage you want. I used 4 coats of paint to get the look I was going for.

For the face, you'll need some Chrome Duck Tape, a makeup sponge & some 3/4" wiggle eyes.

Cut down the makeup sponge until it fits nicely on your candle bowl. Lay the cut down sponge on the sticky side of the Duck Tape. Slit the Duck Tape so that it can easily cover the back of the sponge.

Sponge completely covered with the chrome Duck Tape.

Add the funnel to the top of the candle bowl to make judging where you want the nose to go easier. Using hot glue, glue the nose in place.

Add the wiggle eyes, a black pipe cleaner smile, a battery operated candle (the funnel is plastic, and a candle would melt it) & glue him to a Dollar Tree candle stick. I just love the way he turned out. Happy Creating everyone!
