I found these beautiful silk flowers for a bouquet in my bedroom, but didn't have a vase I wanted to put them in. All I had were these old plain clear vases. Boring, and they obviously wouldn't work for silk flowers, anyway. So, went to work. After the vase was clean, i painted the first coat with my Americana Chalky Finish for Glass ultra matte acrylic paint, Serene shade. I painted the inside down to the bend in the neck. I let this dry for about 90 minutes to make sure it was completely dry.
The first coat of Serene, a pretty, pale blue is on and drying
Next, I dry brushed a thin, patchy coat of white chalk paint over the blue. This pic shows the coat of white on the right half only.
The finished vase with burlap and button ribbon embellished with a burlap flower. I really like how the blue shows through the white brush strokes, giving a textured appearance.
The vase complete with bouquet. Ignore the messy craft/sewing table.
