DIY - Mercury Glass

I had been seeing pieces of mercury glass in the stores and I really liked the look of it but it was a little more than I could spend on home decor.
Then I started seeing a couple of bloggers make their own an achieve a really good copy cat version. So I decided to try it as well. I wanted some of this in my display in my living room

Supplies needed:
Looking Glass - Silver Spray Paint
Water in a spray bottle
Glass bottles, pumpkins, or whatever glass piece you want to transform





Spray the bottle (I sprayed the outside) then spray with water while the paint is still wet. It took me a few tries to get the look I wanted. I tried this jack-o-lantern first and did not get very "splotchy".





Then I tried the glass pumpkin. His lid was okay but his body was not. I must have waited too long even though the paint was still wet.





Next up was this bottle. This was turned out much better although it is hard to see in the photo. I really sprayed a lot. The paint was pretty drippy.





Finally, I used these two bottles from the Dollar Spot at Target. With these I sprayed a little paint, then I spray some water, then spayed more paint, then hit it with more water. This photo is during the process.





This one is was taken when they were dry.





The detail is still hard to see in the photo but they are more "splotchy" than the others and turner out pretty good! And they look great in my decor.





This is definitely something you could try at home and doesn't have to be for Halloween. I can't wait to paint the glass Christmas trees I purchased from the dollar store! To see more of my projects please visit my blog!
