Easy Fall Inspired Decor

My friend Amber lost a tree in her yard last week. I went to visit her and snagged a few tree stumps for a project.


The conversation between two DIY lifestyle bloggers went down like this and ended with easy DIY that serves a purpose.






We kept it simple around the door with ornamental grass, urns, cabbage, and mums.

When I was putting out the tree stumps a neighbor was walking by and she said "i just don't see it" "you made that? oh" No worries, I didn't lose any sleep over it.
I think it's important to realize everyone has different tastes and comments are to be expected...especially in a conservative HOA neighborhood (the same neighborhood that had the dinosaur yard ornaments that made national news). If everyone had similar taste and style, this world would be a very boring place and definitely a place I wouldn't want to live. Embrace different and thinking outside of the box...even if it isn't your style.






I used removable vinyl and created a few scary bats for the garage door. I contemplated adding more but personally I don't have time. I'm training for a marathon and I'm working a lot. If you are like me and paint like a two year old, don't wear good clothes. Also, use a drop cloth or trash bag to cover the work surface. Even though I did that, our yard is covered with orange. Tip: don't use your good paint brushes on this, they will ruin.
I chose an inexpensive container or sample paint and had the home store add an orange color. I feel like I should have chosen a darker orange but this works too.
For the tree stems, I cut some twigs from my neighbors yard. (sadly, not the judgey walking lady).
For the house letters, I had them in the garage for another project. If you didn't want to spend, you could totally make your own numbers from sticks and twigs. Just make sure you paint them a contrasting color so they stand out.
I can't even begin to tell you how important it is for house numbers to be displayed properly. I used to work in Emergency Medicine and sometimes we would search for AGES for house numbers to respond to an EMS call.
